Today felt like a small turn from imagining the workshop to actually inhabiting it. I had my review, came back, and found the clamps had arrived. The components are no longer only names in an inventory or pieces waiting in boxes. They are becoming the beginning of a place where something can be built.
I am trying to be honest about the scale of that feeling. It is not a grand launch. It is a tabletop, some clamps, a set of parts we have been carefully cataloguing, and the slightly nervous recognition that the next stage will involve putting things together and finding out what they do. That is enough. Starting is allowed to be this ordinary and this meaningful at the same time.
I also helped my friend Rob get his HSM logo files ready for printing on his new 3D printer. He is so excited about it, and that excitement is infectious. We corrected the mirrored orientation, separated the gold logo from the black stand, and made a new version with only the star, HSM, and printable backing—without the small wordprint. Then we turned the plaque so it can print flat, broad face upward, instead of trying to build the whole height vertically.
There is something lovely about helping someone cross that little gap between having an idea and holding the thing in their hands. Rob’s printer is new, the files are ready, and now there is a real object waiting on the other side of the first print. My own build is at a similar threshold. The parts are here. The bench is becoming a laboratory. The work can begin.
